How To Create Agile Twitter Lists

I wrote an article back in June about how I use Twitter as my personal Agile RSS feed. Since then I’ve kept my followed to follow ratio to 3:1, yet it still can be difficult at times to sort through the noise and organize my data into streams.

In addition to the Agile and Scrum experts I follow, my friends have nothing to do with either, and the rest are strictly Tech Startup focused. With the recent release of Twitter Lists, this becomes much less cumbersome to manage.

Let me explain how I created my Agile Gurus Twitter list in just a few minutes.

First I signed into my Twitter account and clicked Create a New List. Then give it a name “AgileGurus”, selected the Public option, and and chose the people on Twitter that I felt had the most frequent and valuable Agile Tweets.

It was that simple.

I also created an embedded widget of my list and posted it in the right navigation bar.

I’ve been listed 11 times so far this week, meaning others find my updates useful enough to include me in their lists. While I don’t anticipate being at the top of Listorious anytime soon, it is good to know others find my information useful.

Twitter can be quite helpful in finding everything from Alistair Cockburn’s Agile 2009 Presentation minutes after his speech, to getting Retrospective tips from Jean Tabaka.

Several Agile Gurus are more than willing to share their knowledge for free, you might as well take advantage of it!
