My comment over on the V1 Blog is pending moderation, but I wanted to expand upon it here in the meantime.
You could run an Agile / Scrum / Kanban project to flawless execution and it could still result in waste. You could be achieving failure in an extremely efficient manner due to no customer feedback loop.
I tend not to be a purist, even though I’m a ScrumMaster. As long as the end result is quick time to market, valuable and with minimal waste I’m satisfied.
So many times I see people focus on what they can control, yet the end result is failure. Why is this?
Attention ScrumMasters, no matter what software or framework you use, if your Product decisions are made by throwing darts at a board full of half baked ideas you are going to fail!
You can tweak the levers to your heart’s content, but in the end the Product you deliver must be valuable to the company.
